News from Miller's Mon-STARS

Spring Carnival Basket
Thank you to all who donated items to our class basket.  It has turned out to be great!!  I forwarded Mrs. Barber's email that contained pictures of the basket.  Hope to see you at the carnival tomorrow night!!

Cultural Project
In your child's Thursday folder you will find information about our next big and final project.  This is all about Cultural Diversity.  Students will learn about where their ancestors came from and research a country to share with the class.  There are several due dates along the way, so please read the papers carefully.  They are colored in groups that need to be turned in together.  The final celebration will be Tuesday, May 21, 8:30 - 10:00 AM.  Students will bring in their posters and a dish of food to share.  All families are invited to attend.

Spring Conferences
There is a pink form in your child's Thursday folder to sign up for a conference.  These conferences are very different than the fall conferences.  Students will lead their families through the work they have completed this year and share their accomplishments.  Several families will be in the room at the same time listening to their own student.  Families will work at their own pace to peruse student work.  I will be available to answer any general questions you might have.  The dates for these conferences are May 20 - 21.

Race to Recycle
In celebration of FCE Earth Week, Coyotes, we are asking you to join the race to recycle!  Beginning Monday April 29th through May 2nd bring in newspapers for recycling. The class with the tallest stack of newspaper at the end of the contest will be awarded a popcorn party and the 'Go Green' trophy!  Join the race to make Earth a better place!

JDRF
The third grade classes earned the most money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.  They have earned a pizza party which will be held during lunch on May 20, 2019.  Yay!!!

Consequences
Sometimes, as the school year comes to an end, an increase in student behavior occurs. As a reminder, our classroom consequences may include: completing laps at recess; written or oral apologies; emails, agenda notes, or phone calls home; and sitting at another lunch table for a designated number of days.

STAAR Testing
We are quickly approaching the days for testing.  Our Math STAAR will be on May 13, and our Reading STAAR will be on May 14.  The campus will be closed that week (Monday - Thursday) for testing.  No visitors will be allowed to enter the building.  Keep calm.  Everyone is doing a great job reviewing strategies for these tests!!!
