Walk to Read Event

Tomorrow(1/20), we will have our Walk to Read Event. This helps to support Trudy Marshall, who is a former RRRISD librarian. She created 36 libraries in Uganda and is working on 7 libraries in Kenya. We use this event to collect books and money. Walking helps our students see what it is like for many kids around the world to walk a long way to school.

The entire school will walk around a course that we set up on the playground/track, returning to classrooms at 2:00 pm

Each child will walk while holding a hard cover book (new or gently used).  Our goal is to have each child bring in a book to donate to Libraries of Love.

We have asked a group of parent volunteers to help direct classes around the fields. At 1:55, a whistle will sound. When this happens, we will all stop and read for about five minutes.  At the next whistle, we will walk back to class and leave the books for donation outside of the classroom in the hallway for fourth graders to pick up.

Families are also welcome to come and walk with their child's class.

Please help support libraries in Kenya.

We are working diligently on learning about economics.  If you need a copy of the letter that was sent home regarding the economics fair, please go to the Handouts page and click on "Handouts."
