Groovy-O-Rama
Tomorrow is our Groovy-O-Rama!!  The kids have been working hard to make this a great performance.  Our show starts at 9:50.  You might want to get here early to get a good seat.  Parking won't be an issue, because we are the first performance!!!

Pictures
If your student was here for picture day, the packet is in their Thursday folder.  If you did not order pictures, but would like to, you can look at the proofs and make your decision.  There is an order form in the envelope.  If you did order pictures, your complete order is in the envelope.

Interim Progress Reports
In your student's Thursday folder, you will find their Interim Progress Report.  If there is a note about missing/incomplete work, don't worry.  We are working on it, but it just did not get completed before grades had to be submitted.  Please celebrate with your child in regards to their successes.  If improvement needs to be made, discuss how it can happen.

Fall Goal Setting Conferences
If you have not signed up for a conference on October 9, 2018, please follow this link to do so.  If this day does not work for your schedule, please let me know and we can find another time that will work.

Scholastic Book Order
If you would like to purchase some books for your student, please visit the Scholastic website.  Our class number is MDLT7.  If we have a total class order of $100, each student will receive a free book.  If an individual order is $25 or more, your student will receive a free book.  Please submit your order by October 5.  I will place the order over the weekend.

Service Club
Our service club is collecting toys to donate to Dell Children's Hospital.  We have a student at FCE with a disease called OMS (Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome) which is a rare childhood disease that has no cure. The doctors think it is caused when the child's immune system tries to fight a cancerous tumor and instead attacks the brain. This family has spent many days in the hospital because of this disease. They know what it is like to have a child become frustrated with being cooped up in a hospital room. A new toy can spread some light in a dreary situation. If you are able to donate a new toy, please drop it in the box near the office.

Box Tops for Education
Please send in your box tops.  The class with the most box tops collected will win a free Kona Ice celebration!!

Class Celebration
Our class has earned another 300 sticks for being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible.  We will celebrate on Thursday, October 4, 2018 with board games.  Students can bring in board games and we will have a time to play.  Students will be responsible for keeping up with all of the pieces that belong in their game.

School-wide Celebration
Our school has earned 100 golden paws.  That means classrooms have earned 300 sticks 100 times.  We will celebrate on October 10 with a sidewalk chalk party.  The school will provide sidewalk chalk.  We will all go outside at 8:10 to draw on the sidewalk!!

I hope you are celebrating your child's success so far in third grade.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Scholastic Book Order
I have included two brochures for Scholastic.  If you would like to place an order, you can do so with the order form or online.  Our class code is on the back of one of the brochures.  Scholastic is offering an incentive for October.  If you spend $25, you will get a free book for your student.  If the class order is $100 or more, we will get a free book for each student.

Please place your order before October 5, 2018.

Apps Form
There is a form that needs your signature.  It has a list of apps that we may use in school.  I need written approval from you in order for your student to use these apps.  Please send the signed form in as soon as possible.

Important information from 3rd grade...

Grandparents Luncheon
We always look forward to having our grandparents on campus during this time of year.  Please make sure you check in at least 30 minutes early.  The line can get long.  If you have registered, your badge will already be printed for you in the office.  If you choose to bring lunch from outside the school, you will be able to sit down and eat sooner rather than later.  The cafeteria line gets backed up fairly quickly.

Also, if there is no room for you to sit at the table in the cafeteria, please make your way to the library.  This will be where 3rd grade will go if we run out of space in the cafeteria.

Please do not take your grandchild's friend with you.  You may only take your grandchild.

Writing Club
Calling all Writers!  Writing Club will begin on Monday, Sept. 17 after school at 2:55. Writing Club will be every OTHER Monday.  In Writing Club, the students in  grades 2-5 free write and share their writing.  We will have a mini-lesson and talk about a writing craft or strategy. Then the writers can choose to write whatever they want.  It can be a poem, story, rap, comic, essay.... anything.  They can write individually or in groups.  They can choose to share their writing with others as well.  It is a place and opportunity for children to be creative and use their imaginations in a risk free environment.  Writing Club will take place in the library and we will walk out to the front of the school for pick up. After school, the kids will meet in the gym and Mrs. Bartholomew will pick them up to go to the library to write.  All 2-5th graders are welcome. Questions? Email pam_bartholomew@roundrockisd.rg or dana_engstrom@roundrockisd.org

PTA Meeting
There will be a PTA meeting on September 11, 2018, at 6:00 in the cafeteria.  If you have signed up to volunteer in any way, including being a Watch DOG, there will be an orientation session during this meeting.  There will also be FREE pizza!!

Google Classroom Assignments
We have started to use Google Classroom to do some assignments on the computer.  You can have your student sign in on Google Chrome and look at the assignments.  Please do not allow your student to work on these assignments at home.  If any are not finished, we will finish them at school.  Thanks!
